is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He attended the University of Maryland and received his Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus University). In 1978, Dr. Tucker was one of five recipients nationwide of an award for original research in Optometry. He was recognized by the College of Optometry with a certificate of clinical excellence.

Dr. Tucker has been practicing Optometry in Cary, North Carolina since 1980. His areas of specialty include primary care and contact lenses, where he has published articles in professional literature. Dr. Tucker is experienced in refractive surgery co-management, cataract care co-management, glaucoma management, contact lens

fittings and care, and primary care for patients of all age. He enjoys the opportunity to help his patients see more clearly and comfortable throughout their life and appreciates the long term relationships he shares with many of his patients.

Dr. Tucker is a member of the North Carolina Optometric Society, the Eastern District Optometric Society and the American Optometric Association (AOA) and is a charter member of the Contact Lens Section of AOA.

Dr. Tucker and his wife, Linda, have 2 sons: Stephen and Michael. He has been an active member of the Cary Kiwanis Club for more than 20 years. Also, Dr. Tucker has served on the Board of Directors of Life Experience on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. When he isn't using his eyes to check out your eyes, Dr. Tucker loves digital photography. Any visit to his office includes a view of a few of his favorite shots! Many of his photographs are available as notecards or prints for which he donates the proceeds to Optometry Giving Sight, a non-profit organization which brings sustainable eye care and eye glasses to those in undeveloped countries where glasses are otherwise unavailable.​
